Par Fore the Cause 2009 - 2010

Greenacres is proud to be the chosen course for annual corporate, public and club tournaments and championships and the venue for many private events in celebration of special occasions.

Greenacres’ 2nd annual “Par Fore the Cause” tournament held on June 16th, 2010, in support of the BC Cancer Foundation, proved to be a very special day on our calendar!  Its success can be directly attributed to the genuine dedication, commitment and co-operative spirit of all parties involved ~ sponsors, Greenacres’ Club members (the Japanese Seniors’ Club, the Men’s Club, the Greenacres’ Tuesday Ladies Club), alumni, general public, BC Cancer Foundation representatives, Greenacres’ Management and Staff and, of course, the golf gods too!

What a fun-filled, memorable day it was for all participants!  Under sunny skies, the scene at Greenacres Golf Course rivaled that of a productive beehive!  By mid-morning, a great number of men and women golfers had assembled at the registration table.  They were cordially greeted by tournament staff members who handed out thank you keepsake gifts and goodie bags.  Staff reviewed tournament instructions, including hidden surprises, which added an extra element of fun to the ol’ beloved game of golf.

Ladies, vying for the coveted Greenacres’ “Pink Lady” prize, added eye-catching splashes of pink hues to the manicured fairways and greens.  What a sight to behold!  Please click on the link to view the papparazi’s photographs that showcase the event.

Following play, cocktails and appetizers were served to all participants under the colourful patio umbrellas.  Chatter and laughter could be heard from afar as new and old friends exchanged stories with great punch lines.
The wonderful event was not over yet.  The “piece-d-resistance”, a five-star dinner and dessert, prepared by the chef and his staff and served by the Special Events banquet staff to all “Par Fore the Cause” participants who were seated at large round tables dressed in white linen and adorned with candle light and floral centerpieces.  The ambiance magically changed to one filled only with quiet murmurs as diners tasted delicious morsels that melted in their mouths.

Lining the walls of the “Tee Room” were tables of neatly arranged, valuable “Silent Auction” items donated by our generous sponsors.  The diversity of merchandise: jewelry, themed gift baskets, technology devices, men and women’s sports apparel, golf equipment, golf get-away packages, local restaurant fine-dining gift certificates and artwork certainly caught the attention of every person in attendance.  The bidding was fierce until the auction closed.  Hats-off to the sponsors and bidders!  Together, the monies that they raised added significantly to the total amount earned to support our Greenacres’ charity of choice, the BC Cancer Foundation.

As the memorable day came to a close, and patrons, holding their prized auction items and tournament awards headed for home, the most often repeated question that was asked of Greenacres’ Management and Staff was, “What is the date of the 3rd Annual Greenacres’ “Par Fore the Cause” tournament?”
